Terms
Last updated 11 October 2026
These terms cover the Roundnote apps for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, and this website. Roundnote is made by I-DEV B.V. in the Netherlands (“we”); the legal notice has our details.
The apps
Roundnote is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, the standard licence for apps from the App Store. There's no separate licence from us. The one addition comes with a model built into the app: the use restrictions under Search by meaning and Gemma's terms.
Prices and purchases
- Roundnote is free to download and transcribes your first 5 meetings for free.
- Roundnote Pro is a one-time in-app purchase: €29 in the euro area at launch, and €39 after that. Apple sets the price in other currencies and shows it before you buy. It unlocks unlimited meetings on the Mac and everything the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch apps do. There's no subscription.
- Payment, receipts and refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store's terms. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds Pro, it switches off again.
- Pro belongs to the Apple Account that bought it, and works on that account's devices through Restore Purchases. It isn't shared through Family Sharing.
Search by meaning and Gemma's terms
Search by meaning runs on your Mac with Granite Embedding, a model by IBM under the Apache License 2.0. The tokenizer that comes with it, which cuts text into pieces for the model, is derived from Google's Gemma, so it comes with Gemma's terms:
- Gemma is provided under and subject to the Gemma Terms of Use found at ai.google.dev/gemma/terms. A copy is in the app, under Settings › General › Acknowledgements.
- You may not use Gemma or its derivatives in Roundnote, or let others use them, for the restricted uses in the Gemma Prohibited Use Policy, or in violation of applicable laws and regulations. That policy is part of these terms by reference.
AI services you connect
If you connect an AI service, a model server, or the Claude or ChatGPT app, or share a meeting with an assistant such as Mistral Vibe or Gemini, that service's own terms and prices apply to what you send it. We're not part of that agreement and have no control over those services.
What you record
Recording a conversation and keeping someone's voice profile can be regulated where you are, and at work there may be rules of your own. You are responsible for:
- telling the people in a meeting that you're recording it, and getting their consent where that's required;
- asking a person's explicit consent before Roundnote remembers their voice, and forgetting it when they ask;
- what you do with recordings, transcripts and summaries, including sharing them.
Roundnote reminds you and asks you to confirm consent, but those reminders don't replace your own responsibility. Roundnote doesn't announce itself in a call.
Transcripts and summaries can be wrong
Speech recognition, speaker recognition and AI summaries make mistakes. A word can be misheard, a sentence given to the wrong person, a voice taken for someone else, and a summary can leave out something important or state something nobody said, such as a deadline that wasn't agreed. Check anything that matters against the recording before you rely on it or pass it on.
Responsibility
Roundnote is provided as described in Apple's licence, which also sets out the limits of our responsibility. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the law, for example as a consumer in the European Union.
